Welcome to the 2024 Consumer Strike! We will be sharing materials here and through social media leading up to the kickoff on November 29 (“Black Friday”) and throughout the strike. 

Here some actions you can take today to help make this strike a success: 

• Personally invite 5 or more people to sign their own strike card and participate in solidarity together. 

• Follow @consumerstrike4palestine on Instagram and re-share our content. You can also change your icon to the sunbird logo (cream or blue keffiyeh background)! This will be a powerful visual of solidarity across our communities.

• Post something to your own social media accounts using the hashtag #consumerstrike4palestine. Sharing why you’re choosing to participate, encourage others to join, and tag us! 

To make your own participation a success, we strongly suggest you take the following actions: 

• Make a list of the places you frequently spend your money and/or the products you most often purchase from corporate, chain, or “big box” stores. Start your research now so you have a plan for how to meet your needs elsewhere throughout the strike. 

• Learn more about the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions movement and the history of consumer strikes.

• Download the “BoyCat” app to get on-demand information about whether a product you’re considering purchasing, or a company you’re planning to spend with, is on the BDS list. 

• Read our “Strategies for Connection” article for tips on having hard conversations and sticking with the strike.

• Let your community know you’re taking this action! Plan ahead for how it may impact your holiday plans, and make sure you have plenty of support when you need it.
